Site-Specific Occupational Health and Safety Programs
Large Employers
For employers with 20 or more workers, Part 3 Section 3.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requires a comprehensive occupational health and safety program. This program must be designed, implemented, and maintained to ensure the well-being of employees in workplaces that pose a moderate to high risk of injury or for companies employing 50 or more workers. Such programs include detailed risk assessments, the creation of policies to mitigate potential hazards, regular training sessions for employees, and ongoing evaluations to ensure safety standards are upheld. These measures not only reduce risks but also create a safer, more productive work environment.
Small Employers
For employers with fewer than 20 workers, a simplified occupational health and safety program is sufficient under Part 3 Section 3.2 of the regulation. Employers are encouraged to hold monthly meetings where health and safety issues are discussed. These meetings should focus on identifying unsafe conditions, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining a culture of safety among employees. Additionally, keeping detailed records of meetings and resolutions ensures transparency and accountability. Despite the smaller scale, these programs share the same goal: protecting workers and minimizing risks while fostering a cooperative and safe workplace environment.
Health and safety programs, regardless of scale, play a vital role in protecting employees, reducing risks, and ensuring a healthy working environment. The type of program required depends on the workforce size and specific risks associated with the job. While every program may be tailored to its specific workplace, core elements such as risk assessment, training, and regular evaluations are common to all.
Our certified Health and Safety Consultants provide expert guidance to businesses of all sizes, helping develop site-specific safety programs that meet WorkSafeBC legislative requirements and industry-specific needs.
Written Health and Safety Program Development
At Dar Al Ammar Construction, we specialize in creating detailed, site-specific occupational health and safety programs for businesses of any size. Our programs are developed in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations as well as other provincial and federal safety standards. Our experienced consultants begin by conducting a thorough on-site inspection and risk analysis, identifying potential hazards and evaluating current safety measures.
Once the initial assessment is complete, we work with your team to design a customized program. This includes developing detailed policies, creating easy-to-follow safety procedures, and providing training for employees on how to implement these measures effectively. We ensure that your program is not only compliant with regulations but also practical and aligned with your operational needs.
After the program is finalized, our health and safety professionals provide comprehensive training for your staff. This includes step-by-step guidance on understanding safety policies, implementing procedures, and filling out necessary documentation. Our goal is to create a safety culture that empowers your team while ensuring compliance and reducing risks in the workplace.
Comprehensive Safety Inspections and Risk Evaluations
Risk assessments involve a detailed examination of your workplace to detect hazardous conditions, activities, or processes that could pose harm, especially to employees. Once identified, the risks are analyzed and evaluated to determine their probability and potential severity.
To ensure these evaluations remain up-to-date and effective, we also offer a range of services, including both scheduled and unscheduled site evaluations.
Construction Site Safety Inspection:
Our construction site inspections and written safety audits are designed to meet OSHA standards and protect workers by addressing health and safety requirements comprehensively.

- Vehicle and Equipment Safety
- Lock-Out/Tag-Out Protocols
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
